Lava beads are cooled volcanic rock, which means they're full of tiny pores. Put one drop of essential oil on a bead, rub it in, and the stone holds the scent for a few hours — lavender before bed, peppermint before a long drive, whatever you use.
That's the practical reason lava stone has been a bracelet material for so long. It's a diffuser you can wear. Re-apply when the scent fades; the bead doesn't stain or go sticky.

8mm is lighter and stacks well. 10mm is chunkier, holds more oil per bead, and is the one most men pick. Same cord either way.
Looking After It
- Keep it dry. Off before showering, swimming and bed.
- One drop of essential oil per bead is plenty — more just runs.
- Roll it on and off rather than pulling; that's what wears out a stretch cord.
- Lava is porous, so skip perfume and lotion directly on the beads.
